Leif M. Murphy is chief executive officer of TeamHealth Holdings Inc., a physician services firm based in Knoxville, Tennessee. With more than 16,000 affiliated clinicians, TeamHealth provides emergency medicine, hospital medicine, critical care, anesthesiology, post-acute care, and telehealth services at more than 3,000 hospitals and post-acute facilities across the United States.
Mr. Murphy has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare operations, business development, and finance. He joined TeamHealth as president and chief executive officer in September 2016 and is also a member of the TeamHealth board of directors.
Mr. Murphy has held numerous executive-level positions in healthcare, business development, and finance, including executive vice president and chief financial officer for LifePoint Health, president and chief executive officer for DSI Renal Inc., and senior vice president and treasurer of CVS/Caremark Inc. He has also held leadership positions at Renal Care Group Inc., National Nephrology Associates Inc., and HealthSouth Corporation.
He is a member of the boards of directors of the Nashville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Nashville Healthcare Council.
He earned his BA degree from Furman University and his MBA from the College of William and Mary.
