In August, the U3 civilian unemployment remained at 4.9 percent for the third month in a row. The broader U6 measure of unemployment, which includes persons marginally attached to the labor force and persons working part-time for economic reasons (PTER), also held steady from the previous month at 9.7 percent. Likewise, the labor force participation rate remained at 62.8 percent from the previous month.
