Total month-over-month retail sales declined for the first time since January 2014, falling 0.3 percent in September from August’s rise of 0.6 percent. Core retail sales, excluding auto, gas, and building materials, for September remained flat month over month. Year over year, total retail sales rose 4.3 percent.
