The headline personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index rose 1.4 percent year over year in September, unchanged from its August pace. Core PCE price inflation, which excludes food and energy, rose 1.5 percent year over year in September, also unchanged from August. PCE headline inflation rose at a 0.9 percent one-month annualized rate in September, up from a decline of 0.6 percent, and the annualized core figure rose 1.4 percent, up from 0.9 percent in August. Recent PCE price index data suggest inflationary pressures remain at bay.
