The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reported that new single-family home sales declined 7.3 percent from November to December. New home sales remained ahead of the year-earlier level, up 8.8 percent, but growth was more subdued than earlier in the year.

Months' supply of new homes edged up slightly to 4.9 months.
