According to Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey, the average rate for a 30-year fixed rate mortgage increased 11 basis points (bps) over the week ending January 31, to 3.53 percent. This is the first week the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rate has been above 3.5 percent since September 13, 2012.
The average rate for a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage increased 10 bps to 2.81 percent over the week ending January 31.
