Light vehicles sales have been mostly flat since November 2012. In May, sales of cars imported and produced domestically both increased, growing at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.25 percent and 1.8 percent, respectively.
Sales of domestic light vehicles are almost back to prerecession levels, just 4 percent below November 2007 levels. Sales of imported light vehicles have not recovered as much, however; as of May, sales were 15 percent shy of prerecession levels.
