In May, the U.S. labor market added 175,000 payrolls. Sectors of note last month included professional and business services, which added 57,000 payrolls (of those, 26,000 were in temporary help services); the leisure and hospitality sector added 43,000 payrolls in May, while retail trade added 28,000.
Revisions for the last two months resulted in a net downward revision of 12,000 payrolls. Upward revisions for March (revised up by 4,000 payrolls, to 142,000) were outweighed by downward revisions for April (revised down 16,000 payrolls, to 149,000), which resulted in the net 12,000 payroll drop as a result of revisions.
