The unemployment rate ticked up 0.1 percentage point to reach 7.6 percent in May, up slightly from 7.5 percent in April.
The labor force participation rate ticked up to 63.4 percent in May, from 63.3 percent in April, as 420,000 civilians entered the labor force last month. A total of 319,000 labor market entrants were employed, while 101,000 were unemployed.
