Readings for the future of the economy as seen through consumers in both the University of Michigan and Conference Board consumer sentiment surveys deteriorated slightly in July. However, both measures have shown improvement since the beginning of the year. The Conference Board's expectation measure is up 24.8 points since January and the University of Michigan's measure is up 9.9 points.
