According to the National Federation of Independent Business, small business optimism dropped slightly, to 93.9 in September from 94.1 in August. August was previously reported at 94.0 but was revised due to a processing error. Notable changes in the revision include much lower readings on new job creation and sales expectations. The results of the NFIB survey again sent mixed signals; small businesses indicated a gain in future sales expectations, but job creation plans remained flat, dropping only 1 point from August to September and expectations for an improved economy dropping a noteworthy 8 points month over month.
