The monthly average of the trade-weighted exchange value of the dollar declined 1 percent in October from the previous month. At the end of October, the value of the dollar was virtually flat against the euro and the yen compared with its value at the end of September. The dollar was stronger against the Canadian dollar and the British pound, but it depreciated against a number of emerging-market currencies.
