The headline personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index increased at a modest 1 percent annualized rate in September, while core PCE price inflation, which excludes food and energy, increased 0.7 percent in September at an annualized rate. The trimmed mean PCE inflation rate was an annualized 1.5 percent in September.
