The headline consumer price index (CPI) increased 1.0 percent over the last 12 months, the smallest 12-month increase since October 2009. Core CPI (excluding food and energy) increased 1.7 percent for the 12 months ending in October, the same increase as the 12 months ending in September. Headline CPI edged down by 0.7 percent annualized, and core CPI increased by 1.5 percent annualized month over month in October on a seasonally adjusted basis.
