Among the marginally attached, there were 676,000 discouraged workers (those not in the labor force who want a job yet are not actively looking) in June, a decrease of 21,000 from May and 351,000 from a year earlier. The number of long-term unemployed (those looking for work for 27 weeks or more) declined by 293,000 in June to 3.1 million. During the past 12 months, the number of long-term unemployed has decreased by 1.2 million.
