Nonfarm payrolls grew by a net 288,000 in June. Gains for the previous two months were revised upward by a collective 29,000 (to 304,000 from 282,000 in April and to 224,000 from 217,000 in May). Through the first half of 2014, the economy added 1,385,000 payroll jobs, up from 1,221,000 added during the same period in 2013. These strong figures represent a notable strengthening in the labor market.
