The monthly average of the nominal trade-weighted exchange value of the dollar edged up slightly in June compared with May. The dollar appreciated against the euro and the yen in June on average, was largely unchanged against the Canadian dollar and the trade-weighted group of key emerging-market currencies, and depreciated against the British pound. On a trade-weighted basis, the dollar was up less than 1 percent last month compared with June 2013. The trade-weighted exchange value of the dollar is still nearly 9 percent below its level at the height of the last recession.
