Global economic growth is forecast to increase slightly in 2014 compared with last year and accelerate further in 2015. Higher expected growth in 2014 reflects Europe’s recovery from a recession and notableÂ,â  strengthening of Britain’s economy. In emerging markets, decelerations in China and Brazil and a stagnation in Russia are likely to be offset in 2014 by improving growth in India, Mexico, and possibly the Middle East. Downside risks continue to be a concern, including geopolitical risks and financial market risks.
