The September Summary of Economic Projections for the unemployment rate extend through 2017 for the first time. The central tendency of the 2014 projection decreased by 0.1 percentage point at the upper and lower bounds from the June projections. The 2015 and 2016 projections decreased slightly at the upper bounds and remained unchanged at the lower bound. The central tendency of the unemployment rate in 2017 is projected to be between 4.9 percent and 5.3 percent. The long-run projection remained unchanged at both the upper and lower bounds of the central tendency.
