Shari Bower has been named vice president and regional executive for the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She previously was assistant vice president in the Retail Payments Office and will begin her new position on September 16. She will replace Karen Gilmore, who plans to retire in early 2022 after eight years with the Atlanta Fed.
Bower will provide strategic support for the Regional Economic Information Network, focusing on activities in the Miami Branch's 13-county area. She will work with other regional executives to collect targeted economic intelligence to support the Atlanta Fed's contributions to the monetary policy process and contribute to the Bank's community and economic development outreach activities in South Florida.
Bower began working for the Federal Reserve in 2005 as a rotational analyst in the supervision group at the New York Fed. She became a bank examiner in 2007 and held positions of increasing responsibility in supervision and the payments and market infrastructure policy area. In 2016, she was promoted to assistant vice president in the Policy Planning Office.
She joined the Atlanta Fed in January 2020 as a Miami-based assistant vice president in the Retail Payments Office. In this role, Bower coordinated the Bank's Promoting Safer Payments Innovation initiative and its cross-functional support team.
Bower holds a bachelor's degree in international relations and anthropology from Tufts University and a master's degree in public administration from New York University.
