Christopher Alexander has been promoted to assistant vice president of the Atlanta Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer.
In this position, Alexander has responsibility for payment services operations, branch computer services and payor bank services. He reports directly to Marie Gooding, assistant vice president and assistant branch manager.
Alexander began his career with the Atlanta Fed in 1984 as an auditor in the Birmingham Branch. He transferred to Atlanta in January 1991 as an audit analyst and was promoted to audit administrator in December 1991. He served as audit liaison to the Sixth District's teams for Automated ClearingHouse (ACH) centralization, electronic payments and securities services. He was also an advisory group member and instructor for the Systems Center for Auditor Development Float Symposium, conducted in 1993. He became director of ACH in May 1996, and was charged with implementing the Electronic Federal Tax Payments Systems.
Alexander holds a bachelor's degree in banking and finance from the University of Alabama. He also has completed the executive development program at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed takes part in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
