Kimberly Winstel has been named assistant vice president and community relations officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, effective August 1, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer.
In this position, Winstel's responsibilities will include the day-to-day administration of the public affairs department, as well as strategic direction of the Bank's community relations activities. She will report to Bobbie McCrackin, vice president and public affairs officer.
Winstel previously served as assistant vice president in the Jacksonville Branch of the Atlanta Fed, having responsibility for business development and customer relationship management, cash services, facilities management services and protection. She began her career with the Atlanta Fed in 1984, and has served in several official and managerial positions, with responsibility for accounting, check payment and payor bank services, computer services, civic and community relations, electronic payments, food services and personnel.
She has served on the state of Florida's electronic benefits task force, chairing the governmental affairs/regulatory issues subcommittee, has participated as a member of the Sixth District's subcommittees on accounting, automation, business development, cash services, check services, electronic payments, and personnel; and she has chaired a System cash services task force.
She also has been active in the community, serving on the mayor of Jacksonville's insight program, as a member of the district board of trustees and foundation for Florida Community College at Jacksonville, the advisory board of governors of Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Management, a trustee for Georgia Tech's Alexander Tharpe fund board, and a member of the board of directors of the YWCA of Jacksonville.
A native of New Iberia, La., she holds a bachelor's degree in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She also completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Tennessee.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed takes part in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
