Aruna Srinivasan has been promoted to assistant vice president in the credit and risk management department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Srinivasan assumes responsibility for the Atlanta Fed's credit and risk management operations, which include the discount window. She will also work with on Federal Reserve System policy development issues related to risk management.
Srinivasan joined the bank in 1987 as a senior economic analyst in the research department. She was promoted to economist in 1988 and became a senior economist in 1994.
She earned her bachelor's degree in economics from Daulat Ram College in Delhi, India. She received a master's degree in economics from the Delhi School of Economics and earned her doctorate in agricultural economics from Ohio State University.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed takes part in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
