John Branigin has been named as the officer in charge of software development for the Federal Reserve System's Retail Payments Office check standardization project, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Guynn also announced that Jacquelyn Lee has assumed responsibility as officer in charge of the Atlanta Fed's systems department, which is responsible for software development. These changes became effective at the end of January.
In his new position, Branigin is responsible for developing and maintaining national check processing software, working with the check user community to translate user needs and requirements into technical solutions, managing vendor relationships, testing applications software and serving as the lead Federal Reserve System contact on technical issues. Branigin is based in Atlanta. Previously, he served as officer in charge of the systems function in Atlanta. He has held numerous analytical and management positions since joining the Fed 12 years ago.
A native of Cranford, N.J., Branigin holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., and completed the executive development program at Cornell University.
Lee is an assistant vice president at the Atlanta Fed with responsibility for the systems department. She began her career at the Fed in 1983 as a systems analyst. Most recently, she was assistant vice president in the systems department responsible for support and development projects related to the Fed's billing, FedCom, key management, and cash and human resources functions. Before joining the Fed, she worked as a senior programmer/analyst for Geico Insurance Co. and as a programmer for General Dynamics.
In 1994, Lee was a recipient of the Sixth Federal Reserve District's highest honor, the President's Award for Excellence, for her outstanding contributions to the Atlanta Fed. She is a member of Toastmasters and the Atlanta Urban Banker's Association. She is also secretary of the executive board of the Albany State University National Alumni Association. She received her bachelor's degree in business administration with minors in accounting and economics from Albany State University and completed the Cornell University executive development program.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and segments of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
