Lee Jones has been named vice president and branch manager for the Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Guynn also announced that Andre Anderson has been named vice president responsible for the community affairs function in the supervision and regulation division of the Atlanta Fed.

In his new position, Jones is responsible for all operations at the Birmingham Branch of the Atlanta Fed. He joined the Atlanta Fed in 1980 in the planning department and was promoted to assistant vice president in the Jacksonville Branch in 1987. Jones transferred to the Nashville Branch in 1992 as assistant vice president and assistant branch manager and was promoted to vice president and assistant branch manager in 1999. Prior to joining the Fed, Jones was an economic analyst with Payment Systems Inc. in Atlanta and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in Washington, D.C. He earned a bachelor of science degree in mass communications and a master’s degree in economics from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Anderson began his career at the Atlanta Fed’s Birmingham Branch in 1984. He became an assistant vice president in 1993, assistant branch manager in 1995 and vice president and branch manager in 1997. Before joining the Fed, Anderson was an assistant national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Anderson received his bachelor’s degree in corporate finance from the University of Alabama and completed the executive development program at Cornell University.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation’s central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
