Charles Weems has been promoted to assistant vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Nashville Branch, according to Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Weems assumed his new duties on Jan. 1, 2004.
In his new position, Weems will be responsible for all payment services at the branch. He began his career at the Nashville Fed as a management associate in 1991. During his career, he has worked in various capacities in financial services. He was promoted to financial services director in 2001.
Weems earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Tennessee Technological University in 1990. He recently attended the executive development program at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
