Brian Bowling has been appointed assistant vice president in the supervision and regulation division at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Bowling is responsible for policy and supervisory studies, risk modeling, bank industry risk analysis, and domestic safety and soundness support.
Bowling joined the Atlanta Fed in 1999 as head of the special studies team, now policy and supervisory studies. Prior to joining the Atlanta Fed, he spent eight years as a senior banking analyst, capital markets specialist, and commissioned bank examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
Bowling is involved in a number of Bank committees in the supervision and regulation area, including the strategic planning and risk committees, and is an instructor in the Federal Reserve System’s foreign technical assistance program where he conducts market risk analysis seminars for bank supervisors in developing nations.
Bowling earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Marshall University and received the chartered financial analyst (CFA) professional designation in 1998. He is a member of the Atlanta Society of Financial Analysts and the CFA Institute.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. As part of the nation’s central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks, and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
