Steve Wise has been named assistant vice president in the supervision and regulation division at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Effective Feb. 1, Wise will be responsible for domestic safety and soundness for community banking organizations in the Southeast. Wise is replacing Marion Rivers, assistant vice president in supervision and regulation, who is retiring in February after 36 years at the Bank.

Wise joined the Federal Reserve System in 1987 as a financial analyst and was promoted to an enforcement examiner in 1989 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He transferred to Atlanta in 1991 as an associate examiner in bank holding company supervision. In 1997, he became a senior examiner and manager, and in 1998 he became a director of one of the domestic safety and soundness examination teams in the division’s community banking area.

Wise earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a CPA.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation’s central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
