Julius Weyman has been named vice president of the Federal Reserve System's check relay and central float management function in the Retail Payments Office (RPO) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Dennis Lockhart, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Lockhart also announced that Michael Chriszt has been named assistant vice president with responsibility for the Bank's regional economic information network in the Atlanta Fed's research department.

In his new position, Weyman will manage the check relay organization and oversee the Federal Reserve System's float management function. Previously, Weyman served as assistant vice president in the check relay and central float department of the RPO at the Atlanta Fed, where he was responsible for daily staff supervision and operations.

Weyman began his Federal Reserve career at the Atlanta Fed's Jacksonville Branch in 1987 as a project coordinator. He transferred to the Atlanta Fed's electronic payments department in 1989 and was promoted to manager and director for electronic payments and wholesale payments/fiscal services in 1995. He transferred to the Board of Governors in 1996 and worked as an analyst in the division of Reserve Bank operations and payments systems.

Weyman earned a bachelor's degree in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and completed the executive development program at the University of Michigan.

In his new position, Chriszt is responsible for the Atlanta Fed's regional economic information network, which supports the Bank’s monetary policy role. Previously, Chriszt served from 2004 to 2008 as director of international and regional analysis with responsibility for analyzing economic conditions in the Sixth Federal Reserve District as well as international economic developments. He joined the Bank in 1989 as a newsletter editor in the public affairs department and moved to the research department in 1990.

While at Miami University in Ohio, Chriszt received two bachelor's degrees, one in history and one in diplomacy and foreign affairs. There, he also earned a master's degree in political science with emphases on international economics and comparative politics. He also received a certificate of study in the European Union and bachelor's degrees in diplomacy and foreign affairs and history. Chriszt is a graduate of executive education programs at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
