Lynda Weatherman, president and chief executive officer of the Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast, was appointed to serve on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Jacksonville Branch. Alan Rowe, president and chief executive officer of First Commercial Bank of Florida, was reappointed to serve on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Jacksonville Branch. Their terms began Jan. 1, 2009, and run through Dec. 31, 2011.
Weatherman has served in her current position since 1994. From 1991 to 1994, she served as executive director of the City of Titusville's Economic Development Department and in 1991 was an independent contractor for the Hong Kong Trade Fair Group. She is a member of the board of directors of the Brevard Zoo Advisory Board, the Brevard Workforce Development Board and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council. Other affiliations include Enterprise Florida Partner Council, Space Florida Business Development Committee and National Space Club Florida Committee. She is also an active member of CivMil, which raises funds for military and civilian causes.
Weatherman received a bachelor's degree in social sciences/education from the University of South Florida in 1979, a master's degree in economic development from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1983 and a master's degree in international and urban planning from the University of Hong Kong in 1990, under a Rotarian Scholarship. She received the 2007 NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal and the 2006 Palm Bay Business Leader of the Year award.
Rowe has more than 25 years in commercial banking. Prior to chartering First Commercial Bank of Florida in 1999, he served as president and chief executive officer of Commercial State Bank of Orlando, SunTrust in Orlando and C&I Bank in Memphis, Tenn., in various executive and leadership roles.
Rowe is chairman of the board of the Orlando Union Rescue Mission Foundation and vice chairman of the Beacon Foundation and is a member of the board of the Rotary Club of Orlando. He serves on the board of governors of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, was chairman of the Small Business Chamber and is a current member and past chairman of the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau of Central Florida Inc. He is also a past president and member of the Kiwanis Club of South Orlando and a past member of the board of directors of the Florida Bankers Association and the South Orlando YMCA. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Memphis, his bachelor's degree in business from Liberty University and his associate's degree in business from Brevard Community College. He holds the Professional Master of Banking diploma from the Sheshunoff Institute at Louisiana State University, and the Certified Lender-Business Banking designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers.
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Branch directors provide economic information from the branch territory to the district Bank's president and head office directors, who use the information in formulating monetary policy and making discount rate recommendations. Rowe was appointed by the Atlanta head office directors, and Weatherman was appointed to the Jacksonville Branch's board by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. The Board of Governors appoints three of the directors of the Jacksonville Branch, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
