Amelia Johnson, Dan Maslaney, Jeffrey Schiele and Adrienne Slack have been named assistant vice presidents of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Dennis Lockhart, president and chief executive officer.
Johnson assumes responsibility in the financial management and planning division for procurement, travel and expense payments. She began her 34-year career in the Atlanta Fed's Miami Branch cash department. She moved to Atlanta in 1987 and managed many functions in the financial management area, serving as financial management and planning director prior to assuming her current position. Johnson has an accounting degree from Western International University and is working toward a business administration degree from Baker College. She also completed the Executive Development Program at Cornell University and participated in a short-term assignment at the Board of Governors.
Maslaney assumes responsibility for the Retail Payments Office's Check 21 business operations office, leading efforts on the next-generation Check 21 software, contingency, change control, budget and other administrative activities. He joined the Jacksonville Branch in 1985 and advanced to positions with increasing responsibility. Maslaney assumed responsibility for the Unisys development and support functions in Atlanta in 1996. In 2004, he transferred to Federal Reserve Information Technology in Richmond, overseeing customer relationship management for the check business. He returned to the Check 21 business operations office in 2006 with project management responsibilities. Maslaney earned a bachelor's degree in finance and computing from the University of North Florida and is a Certified Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute.
Schiele assumes national responsibility for Check 21 customer support including new customer implementations. He joined the Bank in 1993 as a management associate in checks and held positions of increasing responsibility in securities services, electronic payments, customer support, law enforcement and business continuity before becoming a financial services administrator in the Check 21 business operations office in 2005. Schiele earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Miami University in Ohio and completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Slack assumes responsibility for the District's Cash Function Office and the New Orleans Branch's business continuity operations and economic education unit. She began her 18-year Fed career as an economic research analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas before relocating to New Orleans in 1993. She has served in many roles, including a short-term assignment at the Board of Governors. She chaired the Sixth District Cash Committee and serves as a member of the System-wide Quality Monitoring Regime Workgroup and a System consultant on currency destruction. Slack earned a business administration degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and completed the Executive Development Program at Dartmouth College.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
