Dan W. Hogan, president and chief executive officer of Fifth Third Bank N.A. and regional president of the Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Lexington, Ky., and Louisville, Ky., markets has been appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Nashville Branch. Rich Ford, president of The Hylant Group, has been reappointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Nashville Branch. Their terms began Jan. 1, 2009, and run through Dec. 31, 2011.

Hogan joined Fifth Third Bank in January 2005 as president of Fifth Third Bank N.A. In February 2007, he was appointed regional president for the affiliates in Lexington, Ky., Louisville, Ky. and Tennessee. He was selected to run the day-to-day banking operations in Atlanta and Augusta, Ga., upon the completion of bank acquisitions and was named regional president of the North Carolina affiliate in December 2008. Prior to joining Fifth Third Bank, Hogan led National Bank of Commerce's de novo expansion in Atlanta in 2003. In addition, he was named head of the South region of National Bank of Commerce, which covered Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina. He began his career with National Bank of Commerce in 1985.

Hogan serves on the boards of the Metro Nashville Chamber of Commerce, the Nashville Symphony, Boy Scouts of Middle Tennessee, Nashville Sports Council, the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association. He acts as vice president of administration for Boy Scouts of Middle Tennessee. He completed Leadership Nashville in 2006 and currently serves on its alumni board. Hogan earned a bachelor's degree in finance and banking from the University of Arkansas and is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at the Louisiana State University Banking School. Hogan also completed Leadership Knoxville in 1999.

Ford served as president and chief executive officer of the Sage Group for six years prior to joining The Hylant Group. He was executive vice president and chief operating officer of the National Federation of Independent Business, a 600,000-member association representing small business. Prior to that position, he was chairman and chief executive officer of Willis Administrative Services, a division of Willis, the world's third-largest insurance brokerage firm. Ford was with Willis for more than 18 years and in the insurance industry for more than 30 years.

Ford is a member of the board of directors of Nashville State Community College. He is past chair of the United Way of Middle Tennessee, Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Leadership Nashville and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. Ford received a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington and conducted M.B.A. studies at Seattle University.

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Branch directors provide economic information from their industry and the branch territory to the district Bank's president and head office directors, who use the information in formulating monetary policy and making discount rate recommendations. Hogan was appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Nashville Branch by the Atlanta head office directors. Ford was appointed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. The Board of Governors appoints three of the directors of the Nashville Branch, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
