ATLANTA — The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta awarded its annual President's Award for Excellence to five staff members—Margaret Chancey in the Jacksonville Branch; Geraldine Elam, Scott Frame, and Sam Idahosa in the Atlanta head office; and Dean Woitha in the New Orleans Branch. The awards were presented by Dennis Lockhart, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed, in a recent ceremony. The President's Award recognizes Sixth Federal Reserve District employees who have distinguished themselves by their outstanding performance.

Margaret (Meg) Chancey, a senior customer support representative in check adjustment customer support at the Jacksonville Branch, was recognized for her long-standing commitment to providing outstanding customer service. During her 37-year Fed career, she has worked in check adjustments, accounting, and public relations; was a founding member of the Branch's FedLine Support team in the early 1990s; and was the first call center staff member to become fully proficient in all computer system applications. Chancey is also a long-time community service advocate.

Geraldine Elam is responsible for ensuring that all new and updated software and hardware at the Bank is well tested and properly authorized, and she approaches the challenge of introducing change with a positive attitude and the ability to influence others. In addition to her normal responsibilities, she often takes on new, tough assignments during peak workloads, provides assistance on the Bank's help desk, and will assume additional administrative duties for the National IT Training Department so instructors can develop and teach courses during critical rollouts of national IT products and services.

Scott Frame, a financial economist and policy adviser in the research division, has built a reputation as a top-tier economic researcher in the fields of financial institutions, credit markets, real estate, and public policy. This knowledge and expertise have enabled him to advise Lockhart on key developments during the financial crisis.

Sam Idahosa has demonstrated a superior commitment to provide quality transportation service to all of his customers during his 10-year career at the Bank. He anticipates his clients' needs, looks for opportunities to provide exemplary service, and does a job right the first time.

Dean Woitha, a senior financial services business analyst in cash services at the New Orleans Branch, has established a reputation within the district and system as a technology expert supporting not only the Sixth District's cash operating system upgrade but also similar upgrades in several cash offices throughout the Federal Reserve System. In addition, he has developed and maintained excellent systemwide relationships. His knowledge and direction are routinely sought by system cash offices.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
