Jose E. Cueto serves as chief executive officer of Grove Bank and Trust (GB&T). GB&T was founded in 1926 and is the longest continuously operating bank in Miami-Dade County. As CEO of GB&T, he leads a group of highly skilled and motivated professionals to strategically grow the bank’s capabilities while also building and expanding the organization’s people resources. Locally owned and operated. GB&T has offices in Aventura, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Palmetto Bay, and South Miami.

Prior to his current role, he served as president and chief executive officer of International Finance Bank from 2015 through 2023; and also previously served as head of corporate banking for FirstBank Puerto Rico in Miami from 2012 through 2015.

In 2025, he was named one of the South Florida Business Journal’s Top 250 Power Leaders for the seventh consecutive year. Lender of the Year in 2013 by the South Florida Business Journal, the Ponce de Leon Excellence Award in 2014 from the US-Spain Chamber of Commerce, the Horizon Award in 2016 from the Florida Bankers Association, and the Hispanic Heritage Award in 2018 from the South Florida Council Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Cueto is a member of the board of directors of the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He is a past chairman of the Florida Bankers Association, a member of the Orange Bowl Committee, and currently serves as chairman of the Center for Financial Training. He also sits on the boards of the Cuban Banking Study Group, and SebastianStrong Foundation. Mr. Cueto received a BBA degree in finance from Florida International University.
