Members of the Atlanta Fed’s boards of directors play a critical role in helping to formulate monetary policy, and they act as a link between the Federal Reserve and the community. Head office directors also oversee the general management of the Reserve Bank and its branches. The Sixth District’s 44 board members are business and community leaders representing a broad mix of industries and economic sectors. Kathleen Cannon has served as president and chief executive officer of United Way of Broward County since 2012. United Way of Broward County has united the community to tackle its most complex and critical challenges and create long-lasting, positive change for more than 85 years. United Way invests in programs that ensure that neighbors have the opportunity to achieve optimal health by providing access to quality healthcare, today’s youth achieve their greatest potential by focusing on early learning and leadership programs, and individuals and families have the skills and tools needed to earn, keep, and grow their assets.
Ms. Cannon serves on the board of directors of the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She also serves as cochair of The Prosperity Partnership. She is a board member of the Alan B. Levan/NSU Broward Center for Innovation, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, and the Broward County Commission’s Racial Equity Task Force.
Ms. Cannon earned her BA degree in clinical psychology from Moravian College. She also holds a master’s degree in social work from Florida International University.
