Biography
Mary Hirt is a Policy Specialist on the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Community and Economic Development team. Her work drives impactful policy research and outreach through a focus on small business access to credit, the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), and fostering community development finance for resilient economic growth.
Before joining the Atlanta Fed, Hirt worked for the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research and later the Center for Civic Innovation in Atlanta, starting her career in research, community engagement, and policy analysis. Hirt joined the Atlanta Fed's Community and Economic Development team in 2016 as an intern, and later joined full time as a research analyst in 2018.
Hirt holds a Bachelor of Arts in international studies with minors in social work and urban studies from the University of Michigan. After moving to Atlanta, Hirt earned a master's degree in city and regional planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
