Search Timeline
Follow the progress of the Bank's 2026 presidential search through this timeline of key dates and milestones. Updates will be added as the search moves forward.
November–December 2025
- November 12: President and CEO Raphael Bostic announces his plans to retire on February 28, 2026. The Class B and Class C directors of the Atlanta Fed's board of directors begin planning for the comprehensive search for Bostic's successor.
- December 15: The Bank's search committee announces the initiation of its search for the next president and CEO of the Atlanta Fed.
January–March 2026
The search committee begins a broad stakeholder engagement effort. This includes 16 listening sessions with Atlanta Fed Branch boards of directors, regional industry leaders, and advisory councils representing the Southeast. In addition, the committee held further stakeholder meetings, conducted staff and public community surveys, and will host live information sessions for staff and the public.
To support the process, the committee has engaged Heidrick & Struggles, an executive search firm.
- January 16: Listening session with the Birmingham Branch board of directors

- January 27–30: Meetings with senior Atlanta Fed leaders

- January 29: Listening session with industry and business representatives from Alabama
- January 29: Listening session with industry and business representatives from southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi
- February 3: Listening session with industry and business representatives from Georgia
- February 4–13: The committee conducts a staff survey to collect input on the qualities, skills, and vision sought in the next president and CEO.
- February 5: Listening session with Nashville Branch board of directors
- February 5: Listening session with industry and business representatives from northern Florida
- February 6: Listening session with Travel and Tourism Advisory Council
- February 9–27: The committee conducts a public community survey to collect input on the qualities, skills, and vision sought in the next president and CEO.
- February 10: Listening session with Human Capital Advisory Council
- February 11: Meeting with former Atlanta Fed board of directors chairs
- February 12: Listening session with Transportation and Logistics Advisory Council
- February 13: Listening session with industry and business representatives in northern Florida
- February 18: Meeting with former Atlanta Fed board of directors chair
- February 19: Meeting with former Atlanta Fed board of directors chair
- February 26: Listening session with industry and business representatives in eastern Tennessee
- March 11: Members of the committee host an information session to update Atlanta Fed staff on the search and answer questions.
