The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta hosted a research meeting in Atlanta on October 4–5, 2004. The one and a half day program was intended to provide a forum for discussing research on implementing monetary policy in the Americas. The meeting was aimed at experts from economic and research functions of central banks within the region.

Inflation targeting is a relatively new approach to conducting monetary policy and one that has seen a growing popularity within the American central banking community. The meeting aimed to provide a forum for discussing current research on issues related to adopting an inflation targeting approach to monetary policy.
