Overview
Following our 2004 and 2006 conferences, the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta and New York are sponsoring a third conference on the economics of payments. Conference papers consist of theoretically and empirically oriented work and are concerned with both retail and wholesale payment systems. Topics to be discussed include monetary theory with payment frictions, network theory and competition in payment systems, innovations in wholesale or retail payment services, regulatory and prudential issues related to payment services, consumer adoption of electronic payments, pricing of wholesale and retail payment services, central bank provision of liquidity, and systemic risk and fragility of payment systems.
