The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta awarded its annual President's Award for Excellence to Robert Canova, Kathy Davis, and Hanh Dong. Raphael Bostic, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed, presented the awards in a recent ceremony. The President's Award recognizes Sixth Federal Reserve District employees who have distinguished themselves by their outstanding performance.
Canova is a senior financial specialist in Supervision, Regulation, and Credit (SRC) who has been with the Bank since 2006. One of his many responsibilities is writing content for a variety of resources and publications, and he also conceived and manages two internal SRC publications. Canova is an active participant in the System Accounting Communications Network and is a founding member of the newly formed Technical Accounting Group for examiners. For several years, he organized and managed SRC's premier outreach event, the annual Banking Outlook Conference.
Davis joined the Bank in 1996 as a senior accounting specialist. Today she is a subject matter expert on the Retail Payments Office (RPO) customer implementation and channel support team. She recently led the effort to consolidate working space arrangements, a project that will save the RPO an estimated $500,000 a year. In 2017, Davis led a new business solutions team in the RPO's customer support function and created an automated survey form for staff members to anonymously submit questions to management. She was also a key part of the team that, in coordination with the U.S. Treasury Department, tested the recent implementation of Same Day ACH and is now working with the testing team on the new ACH Modernization Project scheduled to go live in the third quarter of 2019.
Dong has been at the Atlanta Fed since 1999 and joined the Operations and Administration Services (OAS) team in 2012. Her responsibilities include leading many projects including the Bobby Dodd Institute internship program, which she helped establish at the Bank. Since 2012, more than 40 people have participated in the program, with many eventually gaining full-time positions at the Bank. Dong helped create programs for the Bank's newest employees, one of which helps new Branch leaders network with leaders across a variety of areas during visits to the Atlanta headquarters. She also established a breakfast club for Law Enforcement hires to help them better understand OAS policies. Dong oversaw the creation of an OAS FedShare site, which quickly became a favored resource across all staff levels.
