Misty Skedgell has been named assistant vice president and corporate communications officer in the Public Affairs Department, announced Raphael Bostic, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Skedgell assumes responsibility for leading the content development, creative services, internal and executive communications, and Knowledge and Information Management teams.

Skedgell has extensive corporate communications experience and broad strategic insight. She spent more than 25 years of her career at Turner Broadcasting, where she held positions of increasing responsibility and executive leadership, including senior vice president of corporate communications. Skedgell has also served as executive director of public relations and marketing at the Savannah College of Art and Design and most recently was the director of communications for RentPath.

Skedgell holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
