Paul G. Boynton, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc., and Nicole B. Thomas, hospital president of Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Florida, have been reappointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Jacksonville Branch. Their terms began January 1, 2020, and run through December 31, 2022.

Boynton has served in his position since 2014. Prior to his current role, he held various positions with the former parent company, Rayonier, since 1999, including chairman, president, and chief executive officer from 2012 to 2014. He also served as global brand manager, home care division, of the 3M Corp. from 1990 to 1999.

Boynton is a member of the boards of directors of the Brink's Company, the National Association of Manufacturers, and the National Council for Air & Stream Improvement.

Boynton received a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University and an MBA from the University of Iowa. He graduated from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Advanced Management Program.

Thomas has served as hospital president of Baptist Medical Center South since 2016. Prior to that role, she served Baptist Health as senior vice president of specialty services from 2014 to 2016 and vice president of operations and specialty services from 2011 to 2014. Her career in healthcare began at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, and she also worked at St. Luke's Episcopal Health System in Houston, Texas.

Thomas is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives. She is active in the community and serves on a number of boards including chair of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women 2020 Campaign. Thomas graduated from Leadership Jacksonville in 2013.

Thomas received her bachelor's degree from Dillard University New Orleans in 1994 and her MHA degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996. She received the American College of Healthcare Executives Regents Senior Level Award in 2019, the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Women of Distinction Award in 2018, the Volunteers in Medicine Women with Heart Award in 2017, a Jacksonville Women's Network Women in Business Award in 2015, and the Jacksonville Business Journal's Women of Influence Award in 2014. She was recognized as one of Modern Healthcare's 2018 Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare.

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch directors provide economic information from the branch territory to the district bank's president and head office directors, who use the information in discussing monetary policy options and making discount rate recommendations. Boynton was reappointed to the board of directors of the Jacksonville Branch by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's board of directors. Thomas was reappointed to the board of directors of the Jacksonville Branch by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, DC. The Board of Governors appoints three of the directors of the Jacksonville Branch, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
