Rajinder P. Singh, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of BankUnited Inc., was appointed to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors' Federal Advisory Council. His term began January 1, 2020, and ends December 31, 2020.

Singh has served as chairman, president, and chief executive officer of BankUnited Inc. since 2019. His extensive banking career includes serving as the head of corporate strategy for North Fork Bankcorp from 2005 to 2006, executive vice president at Capital One Banking segment from 2006 to 2008, and managing director of Invesco's WL Ross & Co. from 2008 to 2009. He joined BankUnited in 2009 as head of mortgage banking and corporate development and was chief operating officer from 2010 to 2017. He was named president and chief executive officer in 2017.

Singh was awarded the Power Leader in Banking and Finance by the South Florida Business Journal in March 2019, named in the Book of Leaders of Miami Today in December 2018, and called a South Florida Power Leader by South Florida Business Journal in December 2019.

Singh earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.

The Federal Advisory Council is composed of 12 representatives of the banking industry. The council meets several times a year to consult with and advise the Board of Governors on all matters within the board's jurisdiction. Each Reserve Bank chooses one council member to represent its district, and the members elect their own officers.
