Dr. Thomas Zacharia is senior vice president, strategic technology partnerships and public policy of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD). AMD is the high-performance and adaptive computing leader, powering the products and services that help solve the world’s most important challenges. The company’s technologies advance the future of the data center embedded, gaming, and PC markets. Founded in 1969 as a Silicon Valley start-up, the AMD journey began with dozens of employees who were passionate about creating leading-edge semiconductor products. AMD has grown into a global company setting the standard for modern computing, with many important industry firsts and major technological achievements along the way.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Zacharia served as director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and president and chief executive officer of UT-Battelle LLC in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where he was responsible for a diverse portfolio of research and development programs focused on meeting the needs of the US Department of Energy and other sponsors for solutions to urgent problems in science, energy, and national security.

Dr. Zacharia is chair of the board of directors of the Nashville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He is a member of the advisory board of GOR Investment. He is a former board member of the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils and former chair of the board of directors of Qatar Foundation Science and Technology SPC.

Dr. Zacharia holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, an MS in engineering from the University of Mississippi, and a PhD in engineering science from Clarkson University.
