Juan C. Sanchez is vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Supervision, Regulation, and Credit (SRC) Division. He is responsible for the Bank's consumer compliance program and the risk and resiliency functions. He oversees the supervision of banks and holding companies on matters pertaining to consumer protection and risk mitigation against credit, operations/IT, cybersecurity, capital, and market liquidity risks. Sanchez also chairs the Bank's Risk Council and serves on several System leadership groups, including the Consumer Compliance Managers Group, the Large and Foreign Banking Organization Managers Group and the System Risk Council. Previously, he served as vice president and community affairs officer with responsibility for promoting job creation and housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income communities. He also led the Bank's commercial and neighborhood revitalization initiatives and advised lenders on compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act, fair lending practices and procedures, and bank safety and soundness. Sanchez has extensive banking and regulatory experience, including working for the supervision and regulation department of the Atlanta Fed's Miami Branch from 1998 to 1999. He has also served as vice president and community development manager for Barnett Bank and as senior vice president and director of compliance and community development for BankUnited. He rejoined the Atlanta Fed in 2002 as assistant vice president and community affairs officer and was promoted to vice president in 2008. He assumed his current position as senior officer in SRC in 2010. Outside of the Fed, Sanchez is active in the community. He serves on the board of Communities in Schools of Georgia, a nonprofit established to help improve the state's high school graduation rate. He also serves on the advisory board of PebbleTossers Inc., where he was past president. Sanchez earned a bachelor's of science degree in economics from Florida State University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of South Florida. He is a graduate of several leadership and executive programs, including the Atlanta Diversity Leadership Academy, Leadership Miami, Leadership Atlanta, and the Wharton Executive Development program at the University of Pennsylvania.
