William J. Bynum has served as chief executive officer of Hope Credit Union, Hope Enterprise Corporation, and Hope Policy Institute, collectively known as HOPE, since their inception in 1994.
HOPE is a family of development organizations dedicated to strengthening communities, building assets, and improving lives in the Mississippi Delta and other economically distressed parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. It has provided financial services, leveraged private and public resources, and shaped policies that have benefited more than one million residents. HOPE has generated over $3.6 billion in financing that has benefited more than two million individuals.
Mr. Bynum is a member of the boards of directors of the New Orleans Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the Aspen Institute, Black Vision Fund, Churchill Capital IV and V, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Prosperity Now, and Mississippi Today.
He earned his BA in political science and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
